For the injection of Botulinum toxin or fillers, a very thin needle is used. The injections are usually experienced as pinpricks. For a Botulinum toxin treatment, absolutely no anesthetic is needed. For some filler treatments you can choose to use a cannula. The insertion opening is locally anesthetized after which you feel virtually nothing. The advantage is that fewer injections are needed and there is less risk of damage. In areas where there are many tactile senses, such as around the lips, it can be nice to use a local anesthetic so that you feel virtually nothing of the treatment. In consultation with your doctor, a local anaesthetic with a cream, or with an injection, may be chosen. Immediately after the treatment it is possible that you have a slight purse feeling at the site of the injection, this quickly disappears.
